15-year-old Austin Payne of Albany, Georgia, was found dead in an abandoned Georgia home on November 1.
Austin Payne was walking on Cameo Lane on Halloween with his friends when he was approached by a group of armed black males who demanded they hand over their belongings.
15-year-old Payne called his mother shortly after 8 pm to report shots fired. He lost connection with his mom, and she tracked his phone to the abandoned home the next morning.
On Wednesday, three teens and one 22-year-old suspect were arrested and charged with murder.
"Austin Gage Payne, 15, of Albany, was taken too soon from this life on Sunday, November 1, 2026, just days before his 16th birthday," the teen boy's obituary read.
"Born on November 12, 2010, in Albany, Austin worked on a Plantation where he enjoyed riding the tractor and fixing things. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors and often could be found fishing, hunting and riding four-wheelers. He was of the Christian faith and will be greatly missed," the obituary said.
