That's one way to end a show… and a career, apparently.

The longtime NFL commentator and left-wing political nut was sitting on the set of NFL Live when ESPN told him he'd been fired.

Whoops.

The network planned to deliver the bad news the next morning, but reports started leaking, so they decided to tell him during the broadcast rather than let him find out online.

Needless to say, the MAGA crowd isn't exactly holding a candlelight vigil for this guy.

Clark was one of those sports personalities who couldn't resist dragging politics, race, and left-wing victimhood into conversations where they didn't belong. Americans would tune in for football and get another lecture from somebody who apparently believed every sports debate needed a side of politics.

That gets old real fast.

People watch ESPN because they want to hear about quarterbacks, coaches, trades, and games. They don't want to be told what to think about conservatives, Donald Trump, Charlie Kirk, or the latest racial controversy.

Clark's firing wasn't announced as punishment for his politics, but networks can pick up on the vibe when viewers are fed up. ESPN has booted other personalities who tried to turn a sports channel into a political soapbox, and it has lost plenty of viewers by allowing too many of those types to run amok in the past

But it was the way ESPN fired this guy that has a lot of people shocked, and some chuckling, too.

A shocker in the NFL broadcast world yesterday as longtime ESPN analyst (and former Steelers safety) Ryan Clark was fired…in the middle of a show. Clark was on last night's episode of NFL Live when he found out he'd been let go.

The Athletic's Andrew Marchand writes that ESPN planned to inform Clark of its decision this morning, but reports started appearing last night and they didn't want him to learn of it that way, so they told Clark during a commercial break and he did not return to the program.
