Heading into the lion's den that is CNN, Trump administration Border Czar Tom Homan told news anchor Jake Tapper multiple federal agencies are currently working together to increase deportation operations in the interior of America.
Homan also revealed the U.S. is negotiating with foreign nations who may be open to taking in deportees who have been refused by their home countries.
Tapper asked the Border Czar to address people living in the U.S. legally who are for some reason living in fear of being deported, with Homan reiterating it is "illegal" aliens and those who hire them instead of American citizens who are being targeted.
"We don't deport U.S. citizens," he said. "If you're a resident alien, you're here on a green card, you have certain rules when you get that resident alien card. You've got to obey those rules. You can't violate the law because even resident aliens can be deported if they commit certain felonies or many misdemeanors."
CNN played Homan a video clip of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) accusing DHS of "breaking the law" and threatening Homan will "have a problem" if any members of congress are arrested for illegally helping aliens avoid deportation.
"First of all, you can't intimidate me. Come on, give me a break. I was wearing a green uniform, Border Patrol agent, for five years before she was even born," Homan responded, noting he enforced immigration law for three decades before she was ever in Congress and has worked under six different presidents.
Speaking directly to AOC, Homan said, "You can not support ICE. Shame on you. You can support sanctuary cities. Shame on you. But you can't cross the line. You can't knowingly impede ICE law enforcement officers, that is a felony. You can't harbor and conceal, knowingly harbor and conceal an illegal alien from ICE, that is a felony. And, you certainly can't commit criminal trespass."
He continued to point out the Trump administration has "done more to protect" AOC's NYC district than she has, saying, "The number of criminal aliens we took off the streets of New York made her community much safer."
"It's politics over public safety," Homan added. "She ought to love her community more than she hates Trump."
