According to the UAE foreign ministry, two drones struck a tanker affiliated with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company in the Strait of Hormuz. The ministry condemned the incident, describing the targeting of commercial shipping as an act of "economic coercion" and piracy by Iran's Revolutionary Guard. No casualties were reported.
The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defence said a wider barrage followed, with four cruise missiles launched from Iran toward multiple locations across the country. Air defences intercepted three of them over territorial waters, while one fell into the sea.
State news agency Emirates News Agency reported that Emirati forces were actively working to repel ongoing drone and missile threats, as authorities issued alerts urging residents to take cover.
Three Indians injured in drone attack on Fujairah oil zone
The attacks also triggered a fire at an energy installation in Fujairah, a key oil hub on the Gulf of Oman, intensifying concerns about the vulnerability of regional energy infrastructure.
Three Indian nationals were injured in a drone attack on the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone, authorities said on Monday, as emergency teams worked to contain a fire triggered by the strike. According to the Fujairah Media Office, the three men sustained moderate injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment, adding that further updates would be shared as they become available.
US warships enter Hormuz amid tensions
The escalation came shortly after the US Navy moved destroyers into the Strait of Hormuz as part of a newly announced escort mission for commercial vessels, ordered by Donald Trump.
Washington said the deployment was aimed at restoring safe passage through the strategic waterway, which Iran has effectively restricted following the outbreak of hostilities linked to the US-Israeli military campaign earlier this year.
