The focus is on microtubules, structural components inside cells that help maintain shape and transport materials. Orch OR proposes these structures also support Quantum superpositions. In the theory, when these superpositions collapse in specific ways, a moment of conscious awareness occurs. Your flowing experience would then be a rapid sequence of such events happening again and again.
For years, many researchers believed delicate Quantum coherence could not survive in warm biological systems. Later discoveries challenged that assumption.
