The attack apparently took place on Sunday, not long after President Trump's announcement.
A local official told ABC that a thermal power plant in Kharkiv was hit twice.
"Unfortunately, Ukrainian skies have been infested with Russian 'shaheds' all day today. There have been glide bomb strikes and strikes on our energy infrastructure too. A power plant in Kharkiv was attacked this evening," Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on X.
Earlier on Sunday, President Trump hailed the ceasefire on Truth Social, and warned both sides to abide by it.
"Effective immediately, there is an ENERGY CEASEFIRE in the War between Russia and Ukraine," the president wrote Sunday on Truth Social. "Both parties have agreed. Do not break it!"
The attack came two days after President Trump announced a deal with Russia to supply millions of barrels of diesel to the American and global marketplaces, to ease shortages and reduce the cost of fuel.
"I have just concluded a highly successful discussion with President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, wherein it was agreed that Russia will immediately supply over 300,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel to the American and Global Marketplace," President Trump wrote.
Yesterday, Alex Jones Live reported that US lawmakers will attempt to block purchases of Russian oil.
"We will be introducing bipartisan legislation to block any and all purchases of Russian oil. It will be called the 'Ronald Reagan Peace Through Strength Act,'" Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick wrote on X.
The Congressman said he would use a discharge petition to force a vote on the bill.
He believes it will "overwhelmingly pass."
At this point, it's unclear who the Democrat sponsors for the bill are, but fellow Republicans have already spoken out in favour of it.
"I've already agreed to be an original cosponsor," Rep. Don Bacon said.
"Congress must make a stand."
NEW: Russia hit Kharkiv's main power plant hours after Trump announced an "energy ceasefire." Zelensky confirmed the hit on CHP-5 — a major heat-and-power facility — and said Russia carried out 200+ attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure in the past week alone, killing 150+ and injuring 700+.
