Ukrainian forces launched more than 1,000 drones at targets across Russia overnight, including hundreds directed towards Moscow, Russian officials said on Sunday as the Kremlin concluded the third and final day of parliamentary elections.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin called it the largest drone assault ever recorded against the Russian capital. He said the strikes damaged the Moscow Oil Refinery and a residential building.
The attacks across the broader Moscow region killed two people and injured 20 others, according to regional Governor Andrei Vorobyov. The fatalities were a 74-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on social media that Kyiv had deployed a combination of missiles and drones, including Ukraine-produced Flamingo and Pelican missiles, against oil and logistics facilities.
