US Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) delivered a brief press conference after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday.
The warmongering duo stood side by side as Graham told reporters, "The game that Putin's been playing is about to change. He is going to be hit and hit hard by the United States when it comes to sanctions!"
The Republican senator then called out China, saying, "China, the game you're playing with Russia is about to change! If you keep buying cheap Russian oil to fuel Putin's war machine, there'll be a 500% tariff on all of your products coming into the United States."
Next, Blumenthal chimed in, claiming Putin doesn't understand what it means for 82 senators in both U.S. political parties to come together, warning new sanctions "will cripple his economy" and be "bone-crushing" to his nation.
A press release from Zelensky's office stated, "The key topics of the meeting included a U.S. legislative initiative to strengthen sanctions against Russia, coordination of diplomatic efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace, and the development of bilateral relations between Ukraine and the United States."
Graham and Blumenthal also said the senate will begin working on a Russian tariff bill next week.
President Donald Trump hasn't commented on the senators' meeting yet, but on Friday evening he issued a Truth Social post saying China "HAS TOTALLY VIOLATED ITS AGREEMENT WITH" the U.S. after coming to an agreement earlier this month.
"So much for being Mr. NICE GUY!" he added.
