Engineering bacteria has always held the promise of endless possibilities and it seems that a team at Harvard may have unlocked one of those possibilities: fuel.
Harvard chemist Daniel Nocera and his team engineered a bacterium that will take hydrogen and carbon dioxide, and produce from those building blocks different types of alcohol fuels, and biomass that can also be burned for energy.
