Founded in 2011 by Colombian Fernando Llanos and architect Óscar Méndez, Conceptos Plásticos specializes in creating affordable, eco-friendly houses in a short period of time. In fact, its iconic 2 bedroom/1 bathroom house can be constructed in just five days with a team of four workers.
Ordinary-looking at first glance, the 430 square foot structure is made from recycled plastic bricks that snap together like Legos. It cost only 20,000 pesos ($6,800) to make and is able to resist combustion, provide insulation and meet local earthquake-resistance requirements.
